Wouldn’t work. A Zippo doesn’t hold enough fuel to heat, or probably even enough to keep hot, a bucket full of water, alone. Also, as the flame burns, it heats the windscreen around it; the windscreen is all one piece with the sides of the tank, which conveys heat down the sidewalls into the fuel reservoir, causing it to boil and flash into lighter-fluid steam, or whatever, which then starts shooting out the impefect seal along edges where the body slides into the holder, (the hollow exterior part with the hinged lid,) and the lighter starts to behavee kind of unpredictably from there, by which I mean, it behaves QUITE predictably.
I love Katherine as much as anyone, but she’s got to know that the Zippo “windproof” lighter (really more like wind resistant…ish,) is a lighter, not a candle, and should not be used as one. [SOURCE: I’ve tried something vaguely like this and learned the hard way about how a Zippo lighter will perform if you light it and set the lighter down and let it burn, and stand back from it for a bit.]
If Katherine turns down the heat a bit and adds some soap, she can either turn the alarm off and wake up on time, or make up for lost time by having a very quick shower.
