Pro-tip: If the first kid isn’t already helping with household chores or yard work, then the second one won’t likely either.
I used to do nursing work for an elderly couple from Trinidad (who moved to Canada for better healthcare in their old age). They had 7 kids. The father had had a stroke 27 years earlier, so he’d been needed extra care for a long time. At the time I began helping them, the mother had developed advanced Alzheimer’s and needed full-time help also.
What I’m leading up to is, with 7 children, the financial burden of looking after the elderly and disabled parents wasn’t that heavy on any one of them, because the could all contribute. Not everyone visited every week, but there would be someone visiting every few days.
Those old folks were loved and cared for better than any old couple I have ever met, before or since, and having a big family made it much easier to make happen.
